Nonin脈搏血氧儀
脈搏血氧儀以無創方式量度人體血紅蛋白的帶氧情況。通常是用感應器夾著手指指尖以量度血氧。 手指式脈搏血氧儀是精密的儀器，感應器裡內置微型處理器。
操作原理
量度血液含氧量時，需把感應器夾在指尖。感應器一端發出紅光(660nm)及紅外線光(940nm)，穿過指尖至另一端的光探測器。光線穿過指尖的組織時，部份光線會被血液及軟組織吸收。微型處理器可分辨出被吸收的血液脈動。換句話說，由於靜脈及微血管沒有脈動，微型處理器可測出及分辨由動脈血液所吸收的光線，然後計算動脈血液內紅血球的血氧飽和度。 指尖式脈搏血氧儀亦可量度脈搏率──在5-20秒的LED週期內，計算每段週期內的脈動次數及平均數，從而得出脈搏率。
量度甚麼?
脈搏血氧儀量度動脈內血紅蛋白的血氧飽和度以及脈搏率。後者是LED週期內5-20秒的平均值。
正常值
一個健康正常的人體內之血氧飽和度應在97%~99%之間。如血氧飽和度低於90%，表示低血氧症，患者通常皮膚發紫。
適應症
脈搏血氧儀適合血氧水平不穩定的人使用，例如患呼吸困難症狀的病人，用以監測其呼吸情況：
1.手術時監測

測量錯誤
如讀數異常低，可能是因為:
1. 手臂灌流不足及血管收窄
2. 感應器使用方法錯誤
3. 皮膚角化過度
4. 進行量度時，活動肢體(如:顫抖)
如讀數異常高，可能是因為:
1. 一氧化碳中毒
限制
脈搏血氧儀只用以量度血紅蛋白的氧氣飽和度，未能提供血液成份的資料。貧血病人的血氧飽和度可能為100%，但由於他們的血液不足，血液所輸送的氧氣量較少。注意，儀器不能量度空氣流通量或反映心臟狀態。
